Oshkosh’s The Willis’ pop
inflected sound is complimented by diverse textures, unconventional
instruments, resisting sonic, tonal & rhythmic conventions
with arrangements that don’t sacrifice the rock. The
band consists of former members of Congratulations on your
Decision to Become a Pilot and Cookie Bug.
The Willis’s debut album, “Bathtub, Lightbulb,
Heartattack” was produced by James Lison. Also featured on the album
is Alan Weatherhead, who has produced tracks for Cracker,
Crooked Fingers, and others, and performs with Sparklehorse
and Hotel Lights.
The band broke up in 2006, shortly after the release of the debut album. In Feb 2009, the band briefly reformed to perform on a test pilot for the not-yet debuted, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show, where they played the song, "Jimmy Fallon: The Plan". The episode never aired, but clips were up on YouTube and such, until NBC took them down. Boo.
